Research Ethics Compliance
The Asia Pacific Journal of Applied Sport Sciences (APJASS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and ethical conduct. All manuscripts submitted to and published in APJASS must comply with the Society’s Research Ethics Regulations, as well as internationally recognized ethical guidelines for scholarly research and publication.
APJASS strictly prohibits research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unethical authorship practices. Allegations of ethical violations are handled through a fair, transparent, and confidential review process in accordance with established procedures.
Gender Innovation and Equity in Research
APJASS actively promotes gender innovation and equity as essential components of research excellence. Authors are required to appropriately consider and report sex, gender, and diversity variables in study design, methodology, analysis, and interpretation, where relevant.
The Journal recognizes that the integration of gender perspectives enhances scientific rigor, reproducibility, and social relevance in sports science and convergence research. APJASS’s policy aligns with international gender innovation frameworks and encourages transparent justification when sex, gender, or diversity considerations are limited or excluded.
Conflict of Interest
APJASS requires all authors to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the conduct, interpretation, or presentation of their research. Such conflicts may include financial relationships, institutional affiliations, personal relationships, or other circumstances that could be perceived as affecting objectivity.
All sources of funding must be clearly stated. Disclosed conflicts of interest do not necessarily preclude publication but are evaluated to ensure transparency and maintain trust in the scholarly record.
Data Transparency
APJASS supports transparency, accountability, and reproducibility in research. Authors are expected to present data accurately and honestly and to retain research data in a manner that allows verification of results when necessary.
Where applicable, authors may be requested to provide access to data, materials, or methodological details during the review process. Any restrictions on data availability must be clearly stated and appropriately justified in the manuscript.
Author Contributions
APJASS requires a clear statement of author contributions for all submitted manuscripts. Each author’s specific role in the research and manuscript preparation (e.g., study conception and design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, drafting, and revision) must be explicitly described.
All listed authors must meet the criteria for authorship and agree to the submitted version of the manuscript. Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Funding
Authors must disclose all sources of financial support received for the conduct of the research and/or the preparation of the manuscript. If the research received no external funding, this must be explicitly stated.
Disclosure of funding sources does not influence editorial decisions but is required to ensure transparency and to allow readers to assess potential influences on the research.
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Statement
For studies involving human participants, authors must state whether the research was reviewed and approved by an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or ethics committee. The name of the approving body and the approval number (if applicable) must be provided.
If IRB approval was not required according to institutional or national regulations, authors must clearly state the reason.
Informed Consent Statement
For research involving human participants, authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians.
If informed consent was waived, the justification and the approving authority must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
Disclosure Statement
Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing the research outcomes or interpretations. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should explicitly declare this.
The disclosure statement contributes to transparency and does not necessarily preclude publication.
