  • 1. Submission for Review
    • Researchers intending to conduct research involving human subjects, human-derived materials, or the collection and processing of personal or sensitive information can obtain prior review and approval from the ASCS Research Ethics Committee.

  • 2. Documents to Submit
    • Researchers are required to submit the following documents to the Committee via email (sport@ascs.kr) when requesting review:
    • a. A detailed research protocol, including research objectives, methodology, criteria for participant selection, and data collection and analysis procedures.
    • b. A participant information sheet and informed consent form, specifying the process for obtaining written consent and withdrawal procedures.
    • c. A description of measures to ensure the safety and protection of research participants, including provisions for confidentiality.
    • d. A disclosure statement regarding funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest.
    • e. Any other documents deemed necessary by the Committee.

  • 3. Payment of Review Fees
    • Researchers must remit the prescribed review fee at the time of submission of the research protocol. The Committee may withhold or suspend review until payment has been formally confirmed. Specific criteria for review fees and payment procedures shall be determined in accordance with the Committee's operating guidelines.

  • 4. Acceptance and Preliminary Review
    • The Secretary is responsible for verifying the completeness of the submitted documents and confirming the payment of the review fee. If necessary, additional materials may be requested. Only research proposals that meet all formal requirements will be submitted for committee review.

  • 5. Review Process
    • a. The Committee will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the scientific validity and ethical appropriateness of the submitted research proposal.
    • b. The Committee will assess whether sufficient safeguards are in place to protect the rights, safety, and welfare of research participants.
    • c. The review results will be categorized as Approval, Conditional Approval, Deferral, or Denial.

  • 6. Notification of Decision
    • The Committee will formally notify the applicant of its decision in writing. Approved protocols will be assigned an approval number and approval date.

  • 7. Post-Approval Obligations
    • Investigators are required to strictly adhere to the approved protocol. Any significant changes to the protocol must receive prior review and approval from the Committee. Investigators must promptly report any unexpected problems or incidents that may affect the safety or welfare of participants.
